Flying Words||What Am I Doing Or Not Doing?

Guys, I am confused right now. I always draft out posts and edit them when ever the spirit leads. In less than 24hours, I have lost 2 blog posts. The first one wasn’t too annoying because it was far from finish

The second one was lost barely minutes ago and it makes me want to cry. It wasn’t just a blog post. When I was done, I read it and legit thought I was a funny person and everything. It was an “Award ceremony||3Quotes Challenge” post.

I was nominated for the sunshine blogger award by zestnzealblog and the 3 days, 3quotes challenge by heygirl, Iscriblr, Godsannointedprincesses and Saranya.

I decided to do a 2 in 1 post because I am trying to build a steady blogging calendar with a maximum of 6 blog posts every month; one post every wednesday and all awards and tags on the last day of the month.

I even spent time writing my quotes in nigerian pidgin english and translating them just for the fun of it😒. I spent time getting links and putting them up (you know how stressful that can be) and just when I was about to publish, everything except the title disappeared. I have looked everywhere- checked the trash and literally lifted every blog post and looked under and there is no trace of it.

I have no idea why my words flew away.

Please if you have any idea on how I can prevent this flying words syndrome, please let me know in the comment section. I’ll publish this now before the words disappear.

Thanks in anticipation.

Woah. That’s really weird. Sorry about that. I’m not sure what could have caused it though.

Sorry dear. That must be really stressful. I think I had a similar experience today, but it was just a sentence or two that disappeared before I clicked publish. I hope you find the cause tho✌

I hope so too. I pray it doesn’t happen again. I would just throw my old and feeble phone away.

I write my posts in word as docx. files and then when they are as I want them I copy and paste into the blog and *bingo* the post. I’ve been doing it that way ever since I lost a really wonderful effort (way back in 2010 when I was on Xanga)!

I have never written a post anywhere but except my phone.
I guess my days of writting on my phone are behind me.

    2. I do this too and it’s effective and better than risking any flying words syndrome.
I also do it because I blog with my phone, and I just feel it’s easier that way. You should give it a try.
      Sorry β™₯️

Ouch. That would make me pretty mad. Are you self hosting already? Maybe the WordPress gods are angry that you are trying to leave us mere mortals.

  5. Sorry dear…
I have experienced this twice when i was trying to publish with my phone but immediately i realized the blog post disappeared the second, i didn’t do anything. I just logged into my dashboard on my laptop and i found the post.

I will advice you always compose your blog post as a Microsoft word first, then once anything happen you can always copy again…

    Oh dear, so sorry!
I now draft my posts on my note pad before transferring. Maybe start something similar, so this doesn’t occur often.
    Hugs.

Now I feel like everyone writes their posts elsewhere and transfers it when they are done. It is confirmed that I have been blogging under a rock😯
I will do it your way henceforth.

        Lol…
I had noticed when typing a post directly on wordpress it usually starts hanging and doing some scion scion. So I started typing into a notepad and transfer later.

  7. Oh no! What a pain. I have sometimes lost posts when continuing to write on my phone after starting on my laptop and the two devices haven’t synced properly. Have you got any old version of the post at all in the history section? Good luck!

    1. Sim says:

No trace of it! I have only the title to show for all the time I spent writing it 😭.
I’ll stick with with writing elsewhere and then pasting it here only when I am done, like everyone has adviced.

  8. Awww… That is horrible!! I thought I lost a huge chunk of a post twice before, but I founnd something in the side panel that allowed me to revert it back to a different draft… I don’t know why it thought my complete draft was older than my unfinished draft.. But, I didn’t question since I got it back. But, I remember the heart attack I got thinking it was gone when I woke up and it hadn’t gone out as scheduled. πŸ˜–

      Yes. It is heart breaking.
I haven’t gotten around to writing any new posts since or even updating my already existing drafts because I don’t want to lose any more posts.
I hope to fix my PC or get a word app on my phone to avoid future stories.

  9. Hey!! Sorry to hear about it. I can understand how it feels when your complete blog post vanishes. I really have no idea where it flew. But hope you figure it out soon and can prevent this in future.

  10. Oh Sim. I feel so sorry for you. I’ve experienced something like this before β€” on a book review. I was reviewing a book October last year and like you, I collected links (from other bloggers that had reviewed the book), I also went as far as collecting testimonies from Facebook and Twitter, then just when I clicked publish, vaaam! Gone! Just like that. I, too, couldn’t find it in my trash. Believe me, I cried that day.
Now, I write my first draft in my book, then I use my favourite writing app, Writer Plus, to type out my blog posts, (Facebook statuses, tweets and everything similar!)
    Even this very comment πŸ˜‚
I typed it first in Writer Plus. After typing there, you just copy and paste it where you want. I hope such doesn’t happen again. Tell mom I’m wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day πŸ˜‰

      Thanks Obinna!
I’ll try writer plus cus the writing apps I have downloaded do not allow copy and paste.
It’s so annoying cus this flying words syndrome has messed with my posting schedule.
I can’t bring myself to write a post when I know it’s going to disappear.πŸ˜‘
I saw this comment late but meh….mother’s day is everydayπŸ˜„
Best wishes to your mum too.
